Account Director

Directors provide account management and strategic oversight and guidance to internal teams,
clients, and the agency. Directors are responsible for managing several accounts. They are
responsible for the success of their teams and accounts – including overall strategy, major
launches and ongoing communications programs, staffing, team health, budgeting and
planning. In addition, they participate in the continued success of the agency through
participation on the Leadership Team, and by mentoring and formally career coaching within
the agency, and by helping to lead new business initiatives.
Experience:
6-10 years public relations, media relations, corporate communications (can be
combined)
3-7 years direct experience supervising individuals and managing teams
4+ years project management
Responsible For:
Project Management: Takes full ownership and responsibility for success of teams and
projects managed; identifies key deliverables and ensures they are met; develops,
executes, and provides oversight for strategic programs and initiatives
Client Relations: Leads and directs client meetings; provides high-level strategic
counsel; interacts with senior and C-level executives; demonstrates excellent judgment
in difficult client and staff situations; up-levels client concerns; manages up and down
as needed; acts as a point of contact for account health
Strategy: Is a strategic problem solver for teams and clients; works to grow existing
accounts through additional agency service offerings; able to analyze and develop new
and creative communications plans to achieve client and agency goals; demonstrates
strong understanding of client brands and overarching communication goals
Media/Analyst Relations: Strategically directs major media programs, campaigns, and
events; has established relationships with multiple media/analysts across a variety of
sectors and leverages relationships to secure strategic media opportunities for the
clients and the agency
Content Creation: Able to write and edit all materials; creates and edits presentations
and plans
Messaging/Positioning: Provides strategic insights and counsel; participates in
development of high-level positioning and messaging for clients and the agency; helps
to lead positioning/messaging sessions; oversees and directs thought leadership
programs
Account Management: Manages team with a focus on AS and SAE development;
responsible or actively involved in profitability of accounts; oversees client budget,
monthly billing, and client communication; reviews monthly reports to ensure Hatch
contributions are apparent
Agency Roles: Participates in new business process; leads agency trainings; participates
in hiring decisions; is a Career Coach and prepares annual reviews; proactively mentors
and provides positive feedback and constructive suggestions to teams/peers; motivates
teams, provides employee training and development; is a member of the Leadership
Team; represents agency and/or clients at key industry events
